State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi Reaches 10 Consensuses with the ROK's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha

On the morning of November 26, 2020, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha of the Republic of Korea (ROK), which yielded fruitful results. Both sides agreed to follow the strategic guidance of leaders of the two countries, strengthen communication and exchanges, enhance friendship and mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and push China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership to a new level. Both sides agreed to:

First, strengthen joint prevention and control of COVID-19, improve and gradually expand the application of "fast-track" and promote the building of the Northeast Asia cooperation mechanism on health and pandemic prevention.

Second, establish a committee for future development of China-ROK relations and map out a plan for developing the bilateral ties for the next 30 years as the year of 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the ROK.

Third, launch China-ROK "2+2" dialogue on diplomatic security, launch China-ROK dialogue on marine affairs and hold a new round of high-level strategic dialogue between foreign ministries of China and the ROK to enhance diplomatic security and mutual trust, and promote cooperation in marine affairs.

Fourth, launch the arrangement for China-ROK Cultural Exchange Year in 2021 and 2022 and make preparations for celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Fifth, accelerate the synergy of the Belt and Road initiative with ROK's development strategies, push forward cooperation in third-party market, strengthen cooperation in such key areas as emerging industries and deepen high-quality integrated development of the two countries.

Sixth, conclude the second phase of China-ROK free trade agreement as soon as possible, issue the Joint Plan for China-ROK Economic and Trade Cooperation (2021-2025) at an early date in a bid to create better conditions for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Seventh, support each other in hosting the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and the Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics and further step up people-to-people exchanges after the pandemic is brought under effective control.

Eighth, work together to maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and advance the political settlement process of the Korean Peninsula issue. China firmly supports both Koreas in improving relations and promoting reconciliation and cooperation.

Ninth, China supports the ROK in hosting the 9th China-Japan-ROK leaders' meeting. Both sides will work with the Japanese side to positively push forward the negotiations of China-Japan-ROK free trade agreement.

Tenth, work jointly for an early entry into force of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, safeguard multilateralism and free trade, promote the building of an open world economy and join hands in tackling global challenges such as climate change.
