Ambassador Gui Congyou Meets with Chairman of the Friendship Association for China of the Swedish Parliament

On 17 January, Ambassador Gui Congyou met with Chairman of the Friendship Association for China of the Swedish Parliament Mr. Kent Härstedt at the Embassy. They exchanged views on developing China-Sweden bilateral relations.

Ambassador Gui said Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic ties with China and that the two countries enjoyed deep traditional friendship. There is great enthusiasm for strengthening practical cooperation in ministries, localities and enterprises of both countries. China and Sweden also share broad common language and interests in international and regional affairs. The Chinese side stands ready to actively develop friendly cooperation with the Swedish side and will strengthen communication and exchanges with the Swedish Parliament, in a continuous effort to push forward China-Sweden relations.

Mr. Härstedt said China is an important and major country in the world and the biggest trading partner of Sweden in Asia. Bilateral practical cooperation between the two countries is developing rapidly. The Swedish side attaches great importance to developing China-Sweden relations and upholding the One China policy, stands ready to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and enhance coordination with China in international and regional affairs, and make greater contributions to promoting China-Sweden relations.
