Inauguration Ceremony of Blaiken Wind Power Project

Dear Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good afternoon. It is a great pleasure for me to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Blaiken Wind Power Project. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Swedish side for the generous trust and support to the Chinese supplier. My warm congratulation goes to Skelleftea Kraft AB and Fortum Nor AB, the owner of the project, as well as Dongfang Electric Corporation, the supplier of 39 wind turbines.
Wind power has been given greater importance globally as an important means to meet energy and environmental challenges and implement the low-carbon energy strategy. China has also experienced a period of fast development of wind power. In 2016, new installed wind power capacity in China was 19.30GW, and the cumulative installed capacity reached 148.64GW, a year-on-year increase of 14.92%, ranking the first in the world. More and more Chinese wind turbine manufacturers have gone global and brought their products to the overseas markets.
Sweden is a global pioneer in the application and promotion of new energy. With rich hydro power and wind energy resources, and thanks to a forward-looking awareness and advanced technology, Sweden is a leading country in the world in terms of new energy consumption. It is estimated that cumulative installed wind power capacity in Sweden will top 10 million kilowatts by 2020, and the total wind power generation will reach 18TWh. Sweden has also committed to a target of 100 per cent renewable energy production by 2040. There is a lot to be achieved in wind power cooperation between China and Sweden.
In recent years, both China and Sweden have been committed to strengthening exchanges and cooperation in new energy, energy conservation and environmental protection, and maintained regular communication on related cooperation. The inauguration of the Blaiken Wind Power Project, which we are witnessing, is not only a concrete result of our practical cooperation in new energy, but also an important symbol of the industrial capacity cooperation between our two countries.
Finally, I once again congratulate on the successful completion of the Blaiken Wind Power Project, which will definitely become the new starting point for Sino-Sweden new energy cooperation. Thank you.
