ANNOUNCEMENT: World Engineers' Convention 2004 (WEC2004) to be held in Shanghai, China Nov.2-6, 2004

 

The first World Engineers' Convention was held successfully in Hannover, Germany, in connection with the World Exposition EXPO 2000 Hannover, on June 19-21, 2000, by VDI Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (The Association of Engineers). Then, the  World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) decided that a World Engineers' Convention be established on the basis of the World Engineers' Convention initiated and organized by VDI in Hanover, Germany, which will take place every four years in the fashion of "Olympiad of Engineers". It was also decided that the World Engineers' Convention 2004 be held in Shanghai, China.



WEC2004 is a large comprehensive international event for the world engineering community. With the theme of " Engineers Shape the Sustainable Future", the convention is aimed to enhance the communication and interaction between the engineering community and the public, increase people's understanding and support of engineering activities, and give full play to the role of engineers in promoting world peace and development.



World-famous keynote speakers will be invited to give lectures at the plenary and parallel sessions discussing issues and problems that commonly concerned in the engineering field. The program includes plenary session, parallel sessions, Project Show for Future Engineers, Virtual Forums, China' Great Engineering Projects Show, and technical visits. For about over 3000 participants being expected, the Organizers of WEC2004 extend warmest invitation to engineers, engineering organizations and engineering students from all parts of the world.
