Remark by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Kong Quan on the ramming of the front gate of the Chinese Consulate General in Osaka by a Japanese right-wing activist
2004/04/23

At early hours on April 23, a Japanese right-wing activist rammed the front gate of the Chinese Consulate General in Osaka with a propaganda vehicle, badly damaging the front gate. This is a serious accident which poses direct threat to the security of Chinese diplomatic facilities and staffs in Japan. China strongly condemn the unscrupulous act of Japanese right-wing groups and feel strongly dissatisfied with the Japanese police's failure to prevent Japanese right-wing groups from creating troubles. The Chinese side has already lodged solemn representations with the Japanese side and asked the Japanese side to make a prompt investigation on the truth of the accident, severely punish the perpetrator, compensate the damages, and prevent such things from happening again.
